Once when I was in university I remember one of my painting teachers taking a strip out of another student for daring to paint “happy little trees” like Bob Ross. It was an affront to his sensibilities and a slap in the face for all he stood for. Meaning that when you paint, you paint the subject matter…not the technique. You paint and you do not paint so that every tree in your past, present and future work all have the exact same trees.
I am glad to report that I am happy with my trees but that they are not happy little trees!
So tomorrow I am going to tweak the mountains a bit and start on the water. And decide between sailboats or no sailboats.
